About Michael Smith
Dr. Michael Smith currently holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering – Carnegie Mellon University; a Master of Electrical Engineering – Stanford University; and a Bachelor of Science – Tuskegee University and North Carolina A&T State University.

Smith is the Program Director for the Intel and France Telecom collaborations with Stanford University, U.C. Berkeley, University of Southern California, Carnegie Mellon University, University of British Columbia and MIT. Whereby, he conducts research and management in audio and video processing, visualization, distance learning and computer vision.

His Academic Programs consists of Program development for Computer Science, Animation and Media Technology at the University of Trinidad and Tobago; Advisor for Computer Vision Group, University of Campinas, Brazil; and Game Design course development, University of Cape Town.

He is responsible for Technology transfer of patented video analysis systems from Carnegie Mellon University to AVA Media (founder) and Sonic Foundry MediaSite; as well as Technology transfer of U.C. Berkeley mobile media metadata research to France Telecom and Nokia.

Dr. Michael Smith also has experience in Digital Media Innovations, such as Seminal technology and patents in content analysis for video search and summarization; and Research to product prototype development for video indexing, augmented reality, video recommendation and mobile photo recognition systems.

As the owner of several patents, he has also published multiple books and journals. Among his accomplishments are Fulbright Fellowships and Scientist Appointments.
